WIGHTON23 Cycle Curator Rachel Allen
Exhibition dates: Thursday 6 July – Sunday 6 August
Following two years of bi-annual exhibitions the project’s annual Summer exhibition of Contemporary Art is back – offering artists with a connection to Norfolk the opportunity to respond to the unique architecture and outside space of our new venue – All Saints Church Wighton.
Calling contemporary artists from across Norfolk, or those connected to the area, Rachel Allen from Mandell’s Gallery is the selected curator for 2023 and offers the following brief to create new work for Wighton23 Cycle
This theme offers a wide scope in which artists can explore different interpretations. The theme of Cycle affects us all in multiple ways:
- How our lives revolve around cycles, a day, a month, a year, a lifetime.
- The life cycle of an object, a plant or a place, and how these things can take on new identities and meanings with a new cycle.
- The cycle of nature from the seasons to the solar system.
- Cycle in its visual form, movement and shape, rhythm and repetition.
