CALL FOR CURATOR WITH A CONNECTION TO NORFOLK

The North Norfolk Exhibition Project (NNEP) committee are seeking expressions of interest from artists and curators with a connection to Norfolk to curate Wighton27 a contemporary art exhibition in North Norfolk. The Exhibition is now in its 27 th year of promoting Contemporary Art to a wide audience .

This year we want to  promote new ideas and practice from  known artists with a connection to  Norfolk and attract other artists who have not exhibited with the NNEP before , to encourage a wider breadth of talent . 

Selection process

The NNEP committee will review all submissions and request a meeting with selected applicants to discuss their ideas/ theme for the exhibition prior to making a final decision. Dates to be confirmed. 

Submission information and deadline

If you wish to be considered as Curator for Wighton26 please submit a short expression of interest outlining your proposed Call to Artists (500 words maximum, plus your CV and weblinks to your work) to NNEP Coordinator by September 20th 5pm to:

We will notify successful applicants by 27 September who will then be invited to an informal interview on Sunday 4 October and notified with 48 hrs if successful.

Curator specification

  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate a connection to Norfolk in some way. 
  • The Curator does not need specific curatorial qualifications, but some experience of curating exhibitions is desirable though not essential.
  • The Curator should show enthusiasm and commitment to the role plus the ability to work with and respect the experience of the NNEP committee members, who have many years of making this and other exhibition successful.
  • The Curator must have good listening and communication skills together with an approachable and encouraging manner .

Curator role description 

  • The Curator can comprise one or more people.
  • The Curator will be responsible for setting a theme for the exhibition.
  • The Curator will be responsible for reviewing artist submissions and selection with committee members
  • The Curator will be required to  collaborate and communicate fully with the NNEP co-ordinator and committee, All Saints Church parochial council (PCC) and selected artists. 
  • The curator must be aware and responsive to the needs of the church which continues to be a place of worship with bi-monthly services. 
  • The Curator will bring their knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm to help deliver a new and exciting exhibition format of all forms of contemporary art to include photography, animation,video installations, outside artwork and sculptural  installations , graphic design, fine art , textiles and pottery .
  • The Curator will support the artists throughout the run up to the exhibition and will make studio visits as requiredwith the help of 2 selected committee members 
  • the Curator will fully acknowledge the above to make the exhibition fresh and challenging.

Funding and Payment

  • There will be a fee of £1000 and expenses (amount TBC)
